Our Mission

Aboutnewframe_edited.png

Lavender Zines is a publicly accessible archive of queer magazines and ephemera from the 1960's. We believe in making vintage queer art and photography open and accessible to all.

We want to not only preserve queer history, but honor the sacrifices of our queer ancestors while acknowledging the good and bad sides of our history.

We believe that Trans lives matter, Black lives matter, and in defunding the police. These are aspects that have deep roots in the history of our queer community.

Lavender Zines was started after we began collecting vintage queer magazines and realized that this information needed to be more publicly accessible. We were captivated with the history and stories of the different photographers and models after collecting our very first Golden Boys magazine. Our collection has only grown since.

Having free access to this type of content is just the first of many steps we have planned to contribute.
